The conference set us back a few weeks, but here’s a mid-month spotlight on RTG!
********************************

Spotlight on:  RTG – Regional Ticketing Forums/Groups/Associations (the collective assembly of all regionals)

Incorporation status:  Not incorporated “as a group”, as Regionals are not formally affiliated with Intix.  Each Regional represents an independent regional ticketing group, with its own unique structure and format.  Incorporation is a decision each makes & undertakes independently.

When RTG was ‘founded’: 1998

The first Intix regional group was founded in Toronto (OPTA), the second in Atlanta (GAPTA). After GAPTA was up & going, we put together a starter kit highlighting their efforts, to ease other groups looking to start a regional. The starter kit was expanded in 2002, 2003, & 2006 to resemble what new regionals receive today, with yearly updates.

The Regionals annual meetings began with a breakout at INTIX 2005-Hollywood, transitioning into the Regional Summit at INTIX 2006 – Boston. The speakers list and the monthly regionals newsletters, now known as the Regionals Update, began in 2005.

Dues:  None from the Regionals to Intix Headquarters – nor from Intix to the regionals – though most Regionals choose to support Intix through one or more of the following: donating items for the Silent Auction, sponsoring a scholarship for a local member to attend the Intix conference, serving as host committees for a conference, promoting Intix locally…

Meeting frequency:  A Regionals Summit is held during the annual Intix Conference. The leadership of each regional ticketing group and other interested ticketing professionals receive the Regionals Update newsletter each month.  And the Regionals Advisory Group meets by phone and online throughout the year.

Primary method of communication with & between Regionals:  E-mail and phone calls… lots of e-mails and phone calls!   And the monthly Regionals Update.

Current leadership:

Ambassador/Advocate – Jennifer Staats Moore

Intix Board Liaison – Gail Anderson

Regional Advisory Group – 1 representative from each regional

What are your goals for RTG?

1). Strengthen the existing regional groups.

2). Increase the number of Regional Ticketing Groups.

3). Expand the collaboration and communication between the regionals.

What are your plans for the upcoming year?   Our plan this year and every year is to be an international rally point for existing regional groups and to aid anyone looking to start a group of their own.

What has been the best ‘bonding moment’ for RTGs?  The Regional Summits at Intix – having each regional in the same room with an opportunity to cover 50+ topics in 90 minutes.

What is the best addition you have made in the last year?  Adding the Regionals Spotlight to our monthly newsletter.  Each regional has an opportunity to ‘be in the spotlight’ and share its story, unique features, and successes.

What makes RTGs special?  Each Regional IS unique!  While they all share the same primary reasons for establishing a regional, no two Regionals are identical in make-up. That makes camaraderie among the groups so beneficial.

What would people be surprised to learn about RTGs?  On average, less than 25% of a regionals’ members are also members of Intix.

Any advice for cities starting their own regional?   Plenty!  Call us and we will forward you the Regionals Starter Kit, along with contact information for ‘buddies’ to provide encouragement & advice as you start a group.
